Unemployment insurance regulatory developments – 1990-2022

Unédic steers and manages Unemployment insurance, ensuring that career paths are protected as closely as possible to the realities of employment. Its governance is ensured by the social partners, representatives of 27 million employees and 2 million employers, in direct contact with the field. They take informed decisions, through constructive and responsible dialogue, that take into account everyone’s expectations and respective interests, as well as changes in the current and future economic situation.

The chronology presented here retraces the regulatory developments of unemployment insurance from 1990 to 2022, in particular through the successive unemployment insurance agreements and their most significant elements.
