The TV mega-franchise war rages between Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max

With “The Rings of Power” and “House of the Dragon”, the two streaming giants are playing big.

Dragons on one side. Hobbits and Elves on the other. And a battle that promises to be epic between the prequel to Game Of Thrones launched by Warner Bros. Discovery on its HBO Max platform and the Amazon Prime Video series inspired by Lord of the Rings.

The first one, House of the Dragon, just starting. The second, The Rings of Power, will be available on September 2. But it has already been several weeks since the two TV blockbusters saturate the media space. In an email sent to his teams on Friday, David Zaslav, the new boss of Warner Bros. Discovery, indicated that unpublished fiction from Game Of Thrones had benefited from “the biggest marketing campaign in HBO history”. According to the manager, this would have already affected “nearly 130 million people in the United States alone”.
