Microsoft Officially Says PS4 Sold Twice As Much As One

We have noticed it for years: Microsoft is no longer very keen on giving hardware sales figures, but did not have the choice to give an approximation concerning the case of the Xbox One. Specifically, it was in the investigation into the Activision Blizzard takeover that the company publicly indicated that on the last generation of consoles, the PlayStation 4 sold just over twice the Xbox One. At least it’s official.

We can therefore estimate that, the PlayStation 4 having sold more than 115 million copies (precisely 117.2 million in the final report), the Xbox One therefore sold between 50 and 55 million units. This would make it the 14th best-selling console of all time, ahead of the Super Nes (and behind the Nes), with double the sales of the very first Xbox (24 million), but far behind the Xbox 360 ( about 85 million).

As for the Xbox Series, the mystery remains complete, except that it remains the best-selling Xbox over the same career time frame.
