Joltee: electric car insurance

Capital sought: 2 million euros

More and more French people are converting to electric or hybrid vehicles. But they quickly find themselves faced with a number of problems: few charging stations, higher insurance premiums and not always adapted to this sector… A market spotted in 2019 by Soundar Adavane, a 31-year-old actuary who worked for Generali. With his friends Florent Stay, Cedric Mavoungou and Thomas Miconnet, they created Joltee, a 100% online car insurance dedicated to electric and hybrid vehicles. Marketed since the beginning of the year, the Joltee contract is very comprehensive (all-risk insurance, charging cable and battery guaranteed, etc.) and offers additional services such as a taxi in the event of a breakdown. Policyholders accumulate Jolts each month, which they can use to charge their car at public terminals, rent other vehicles or even pay for their car insurance! “We want to transform the cost of insurance into an opportunity to control your budget, it’s important at the moment,” explains Soundar Adavane. With its team of 14 people, the insurtech, which is aiming for profitability at the end of the year with a turnover of between 200,000 and 500,000 euros, is seeking funds to expand its offer, multiply partnerships with manufacturers and develop new services with partners. Stated objective: profitability from the end of the year.
