From February 1, you can no longer buy Windows 10 from Microsoft

Very soon it will no longer be possible to acquire a license of the Windows 10 operating system from the Microsoft online store. The end of the marketing of this version was announced on January 31, 2023.

The message published by the company on the product sheet of its OS is clear: “After January 31, 2023, Windows 10 download will no longer be offered for sale.” However, Windows 10 will not be completely abandoned. “It will still be supported with security updates that help protect [le] PC against viruses, spyware and other threats until October 14, 2025”specifies the editor of Redmond.

Microsoft has indeed a habit of providing long-term support for its operating systems, paid and reserved for businesses for the past few years. Released in 2009, Windows 7 was still tracked until January 10 as part of its extended support. Windows 7, despite its great age, is still installed on 10% of active computers worldwide!

Windows 10 will no longer be marketed to reinforce the interest of Windows 11, released at the end of 2021 and to which Microsoft strongly encourages migration. As Windows 8 could have been for Windows 7, this version 11 of the OS represents an evolution by small touches on the still clearly visible and lasting basis of Windows 10. Efforts have in particular been made on the design, but also certain important functions, such as on the security side with the need to have a TPM 2.0 chip.

According to Statcounter, Windows takes 75% market share on computers and, among them, 68% is on Windows 10. This version of the system is therefore the most used version of Windows in the world to date.
